Genius/GZA's second solo effort Beneath the Surface is a worthy continuation and development of the Wu Tang Clan conglomeration. Released June 29, 1999 on MCA Records, the album peaked at #9 on the Billboard 200 chart and #1 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums and was certified gold by RIAA.
