People's Instinctive Travels And The Paths Of Rhythm is the debut album by A Tribe Called Quest. Though the album was well received critically, it had little mainstream appeal. The album did earn the band a devoted following, however, within the alternative hip hop community. It was praised for its lyrical inventiveness and bizarre sense of humor, mixed with socially aware and literate message tracks. Released April 17, 1990 on Jive/RCA Records, the album peaked at #91 on the Billboard 200 chart and #23 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums, it was certified gold by RIAA.
